The Tottenham defender scored twice as Spurs extended their winning streak on the road in the Premier League and delivered the Toffees their initial loss at their new home.

The Toffees were undefeated in their last five matches at their recently opened stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, having departed Goodison Park behind after 133 years at the conclusion of the previous campaign.

But Tottenham's leader the Dutchman struck on two occasions from corners in the first half to put their strong form at jeopardy, and they were unable to mount a comeback before Pape Matar Sarr - set up by ex-Everton forward the Brazilian - nodded in a third to seal the victory.

The Everton defender thought he had levelled the tally a short while after the defender's first goal, directing a bullet header past Guglielmo Vicario from an Everton corner.

But the video assistant referee intervened, instructing the match official to check the goal on the screen and the referee decided that the winger and Iliman Ndiaye were in offside positions and had interfered with the Spurs keeper.

The win elevates the manager's team up to third in the division, a handful of points off local foes and table-toppers Arsenal.

The Merseyside club remain 14th and sit six points ahead of the drop zone.

Following a uninspiring weekday performance in the Champions League against Monaco, where they managed a mere two shots on target, Frank opted for Randal Kolo Muani up front instead of former Toffees player the Brazilian.

The forward and the other striker - the Toffees' two recognised strikers - had scored only a single goal between them before the weekend's outing.
